Dear Hays High School AP Student,
Thank you for challenging yourself with AP coursework this year. Research shows that students who complete college-level courses in high school, whether they be AP, Dual Credit, or Dual Enrollment (UT OnRamps) are twice as likely to persist in college. You’re doing a great job of setting yourself up for the future.
Though the AP exams for the courses in which you’re currently enrolled are not until May 2022 (schedule here), the tests must be ordered in the fall**.
Starting today, September 7, you may register for AP exams and begin paying for them (final payment is not due until March 4—so though students have to register in the fall, they do not have to finish paying until March). Also today, a link is live for students to apply for additional financial assistance; this assistance is available both for students who qualify for free/reduced lunch and those who do not. The link for requesting additional financial assistance will stay open through October 8. Students will receive notification whether or not they’ve been awarded additional financial assistance by October 15. The internal deadline to register for AP exams will be Monday, November 8.
There is a $40 late registration fee for any exam ordered after the deadline; this fee is on top of the cost of the exam. This year (2021-22) there is a $40 fee to cancel an exam after November 15. The best thing to do is register for the exam and plan to take it in May.

In AP Classroom for each of the AP courses that you’re taking, the default answer to whether or not you’re taking the AP exam for the course is set to “yes.” Confirm that you are taking the AP Exam and set up payment information through the link above. (Please note that if you are NOT planning to take an exam in an AP class you need to change your setting to “no” for the exam in AP classroom).
The fee schedule for AP exams in Hays CISD this year is below. The district contributes to the cost of each test to encourage all students to take AP exams for the courses in which they’re enrolled.
