Hays CISD Trustee Sandra Bryant announced Thursday that she will not seek re-election for a third term as one of the at-large trustees on the Hays CISD Board of Trustees. In a poignant letter to her constituents, she explained that her decision is based on her desire to pursue another calling in life – to earn her master’s degree and become a counselor.
Bryant was first elected to the Board in May 2011. She is the first and only African American ever elected to serve as a trustee on the Hays CISD Board of Trustees. During her tenure, she was elected by her colleagues four times as an officer on the Board – twice as the Board secretary and twice as vice president of the Board.
Bryant will continue to serve on the Board through the end of her term that concludes in May.
