2009 Summer Reading Lists
To make sure that the students at Lehman High School are sufficiently challenged with the books they read during the summer, the LHS English language Arts Department is requiring certain titles for all students enrolled in GT/Alpha or PreAP/ AP classes next year. Please see the summer reading letters below:

Lehman Student-NASA Intern
Meera Day of Lehman High School has been selected as one of 354 high school juniors in Texas to participate in a one-week summer internship at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston. Nominated by Texas Rep. Patrick Rose, Meera was selected to be part of High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS). Students completed 10 web-based assignments during the school year maintaining an 86 average to qualify for the internship. They will apply what they have learned during the year to work with NASA engineers and design a mission to Mars while at JSC.

Athletic Physicals
Any student wishing to participate in athletics at any Hays CISD middle or high school must obtain an athletic physical prior to the start of the school year. All physicals should be submitted to the athletic training office of Lehman High School by July 31, 2009. (Please bring the physicals to your respective feeder high school – do not return any physicals to a middle school.) This date applies for all sports- spring and fall alike. Please turn in physicals as early as possible to make sure they are filed and at the appropriate school by the start of athletics.

Hays CISD, in accordance with the University Interscholastic League, requires a current athletic physical to be completed before any participation in athletic practices, classes or competitions in-season or off-season. All athletic physicals must be completed on the 2009- 2010 green physical form (available after May 1st). No other form or note will be accepted for participation in athletic activities.

This requirement can be fulfilled by your family physician. Please note that even if your family physician performs an athletic physical, it must still be on the green UIL / Hays CISD 2009 – 2010 form.

Immunizations for LHS Students
Parents will receive letters notifying them that their child needs an immunization before the start of next school year. Students will not be able to get class schedules without documented proof of having received immunizations. Those documents must be turned into the school nurse (including immunizations on athletic physicals.) The LHS school nurse will hold immunization clinics for TDAP boosters and hepatitis B on both registration days (to be announced).
The clinic will run from 8 AM to 4 PM on both registration days. Cost is $5.00 cash only. The school nurse is not available for phone calls after May 29, 2009.
