General School Information
Our campus is located on two city blocks just north of Center Street in downtown Kyle, Texas, and consists of an eclectic mix of buildings. Our “Main Building” which houses our administrative offices, the nurse’s clinic, and several classrooms was once Kyle High School before Kyle, Buda, and Wimberley consolidated to create Hays Consolidated Independent School District. Our current cafeteria was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s. As you drive by the front of our school on Blanco Street, you will notice our newest construction underway. We are looking forward to having a new cafeteria, kitchen, and seven new classrooms available to our students for the 2007-08 school year!
We are expecting an enrollment of about 700 students in grades Kindergarten through grade five. We currently have seven classes of Kindergarteners and first graders, and five classes of second, third, fourth, and fifth graders. Student-teacher ratios are no larger than 22:1 at Kinder through fourth grades, while the fifth grade ratio is no greater than 25:1. Student Council, Safety Patrol, Student Leadership Club, Library Assistants, Chess Club, Reading Buddies, PAW Club, UIL, etc. are examples of opportunities available for students wishing to take a more active leadership role in our school community.
