Early Learning Center
Tonya Meister, Director Program Description- The Elm Grove Learning Academy follows the Hays CISD teacher’s calendar. We are open from 6:30-5:00 PM. The EGLA offers care for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. We provide classes with low child-staff ratios. Room contents changes regularly with new opportunities for exploring and learning. Tuition, fees, donations and fund-raising fund our program. Each child has the option of buying a lunch from the cafeteria. Goals- The goal of the Elm Grove Learning Academy is to supplement and reinforce the home by providing a loving, child-centered environment where children develop a positive self-image. Teachers design a wide variety of positive learning experiences, which further all aspects of the development of each child. Our program provides integrated, planned activities, taking into consideration of each individual rate and style of assimilating information and acquiring skills. In addition, the center offers a warm, affectionate atmosphere where the child and parents feel safe and secure. Philosophy- At the Elm Grove Learning Academy, we believe that children’s earliest experiences have tremendous impact on their development. We respect parents as the primary and most important provider of care and we believe parents and teachers are partners in children’s care and education. Our Program is designed to meet the developmental needs of young children. It provides experiences that enrich and enhance each child’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical and creative development. The members of our staff serve as positive role models and provide care that is supportive, nurturing warm and responsive to each child’s individual needs. We believe children develop a positive self concept through a balance of self-directed and teacher-directed activities. We believe that during their very earliest years, children develop their self-esteem and the foundation they will need to succeed in life. Curriculum- The curriculum will be organized around topics which reflect the interests and developmental needs of the children. Activities, materials, and equipment are developmentally appropriate for each age group. Children are exposed to many of the same units of study and materials throughout the various developmental stages because repetition helps them to master skills and information. There will be opportunities for children to explore, to wonder, to reason and to question. Eligibility and Enrollment- All district employees’ children are eligible to enroll. Siblings of children currently enrolled and Elm Grove staff are given priority for admission. Applications are submitted to a waiting list in each age category to the date the application is received. Upon enrolling, we require a $150.00 non-refundable registration fee. a $25.00-$50.00 supply fee is due each school year. Tuition is due on the 1st of each month (August-May) |
